Privacy policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Your personal details are yours. We collect only what we need to take your order, get it to your door and look after you afterwards. We don't sell your data, and we'll never send you marketing you haven't agreed to.

This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have over it. It applies when you visit neilsjensen.com, buy from us, or contact us.

1. Who we are

Neils Jensen is a trading name of Hanline Commerce, a sole proprietorship registered in Singapore (UEN 53506194C). Registered business address: 534 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10, Singapore 560534.

Hanline Commerce is the "controller" of your personal data. That means we decide how and why it's used, and we're responsible for protecting it.

For any data protection question, including contacting our Data Protection Officer, email info@neilsjensen.com or call +44 7456 066967.

2. What we collect

Information you give us:

  • Contact and delivery details: your name, email address, phone number, and delivery and billing addresses
  • Order details: what you bought, when, the price paid, and any discount codes used
  • Account details, if you create an account: your login email and password (stored in encrypted form), saved addresses and order history
  • Messages: anything you send us by email, phone or contact form, including photos of faulty or damaged items
  • Marketing preferences: whether you've signed up to our emails, and when

Information collected automatically:

  • Device and usage data: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, how you reached our site, and roughly where you are (town or region, not your exact location)
  • Cookies and similar technologies, as explained in section 6

Information from others:

  • Payment providers tell us whether a payment succeeded and flag possible fraud. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Carriers send us delivery updates, such as dispatched, in transit or delivered.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

UK data protection law requires a legal reason, called a "lawful basis", for each use of your data. Ours are:

  • To process, deliver and support your order, including returns and refunds. Lawful basis: performing our contract with you.
  • To send order confirmations, dispatch emails and service messages. Lawful basis: performing our contract with you.
  • To answer your questions and resolve complaints. Lawful basis: performing our contract, or our legitimate interest in looking after customers.
  • To prevent fraud and keep our site secure. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in protecting our customers and our business. Orders flagged by automated fraud checks are always reviewed by a person before any decision is made.
  • To keep tax and accounting records. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
  • To send marketing emails. Lawful basis: your consent. If you've bought from us before, we may email you about similar products unless you opted out when you ordered (the "soft opt-in"). Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To understand how our site is used and improve it. Lawful basis: your consent, given through our cookie banner.
  • To show you our adverts on other sites, such as Google, and measure how they perform. Lawful basis: your consent, given through our cookie banner.

We do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing.

4. Who we share it with

We share your data only with those who need it to serve you, and only as much as they need:

  • Shopify, our e-commerce platform, which hosts our store and processes order data on our behalf
  • Payment providers shown at checkout, to take payment securely and screen for fraud
  • Fulfilment partners and carriers, to pack and deliver your order
  • Our UK returns handler in Edinburgh, to receive and inspect returns
  • Email service providers, to send order updates and, if you've agreed, marketing
  • Google and other advertising and analytics partners, only where you've accepted cookies (see section 6)
  • Professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers, where needed
  • Police, regulators, courts or tax authorities, where the law requires it

Our service providers may use your data only to provide their service to us, and must keep it secure.

We do not sell your personal data, and we never will.

5. International transfers

Hanline Commerce is based in Singapore, and some of our providers, such as Shopify, Google and our fulfilment partners, process data outside the UK. When your data leaves the UK, we make sure it's protected to the standard UK law requires. We do this by relying on a UK government adequacy decision for the destination country, or by putting in place the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Contact us for a copy of the relevant safeguards.

6. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use three kinds:

  • Strictly necessary: these keep your basket, checkout and login working. They can't be switched off, and they don't need your consent.
  • Analytics: these show us how visitors use the site, so we can improve it. They only run if you accept them.
  • Marketing: these let Google and other advertising partners show you relevant Neils Jensen adverts and measure whether they work. They only run if you accept them.

When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. Rejecting is as easy as accepting. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link in our website footer.

7. How long we keep it

  • Order and payment records: 6 years from the end of the financial year of the order, as UK tax law requires
  • Customer service messages: 2 years from our last contact with you
  • Your account: until you ask us to delete it, or after 3 years without activity
  • Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe. We then keep your email address on a suppression list, so we don't email you again.
  • Analytics data: up to 14 months

After that, we delete your data or make it fully anonymous.

8. How we protect it

Our website uses HTTPS encryption throughout. Payments are processed by providers certified to the PCI DSS card security standard. Access to customer data is limited to those who need it to do their job. No system is completely secure. If a breach ever puts your rights at high risk, we'll tell you promptly, as the law requires.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it
  • Correct anything that's wrong or incomplete
  • Have your data deleted, where we no longer need it or have no legal basis to keep it
  • Restrict how we use your data in certain circumstances
  • Object to our use of your data based on legitimate interests
  • Object to direct marketing at any time. This is absolute: if you object, we stop.
  • Move your data to another provider, in a commonly used format (data portability)
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it

To use any of these rights, email info@neilsjensen.com. Using your rights is free. We'll reply within one month and may ask you to confirm your identity first.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.

10. Children

Our website is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we'll delete them.

11. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If we make a significant change, we'll tell you by email or with a notice on our website.
